The Bear has origins as far back as the 12th Century. Probably best known as being the inn where they changed the horses on the mail run from Cardiff to Swansea. During the 18th Century Napoleon’s troops were held in the ‘Bear Pit’ en route to London after a failed invasion at Fishguard!! This famous Coaching Inn is steeped in history. Nowadays, the hotel is famed for it’s fine home cooked food, friendly atmosphere and really good ale.

Caerphilly Castle not only has a magnificent moat and an impressive fourteenth-century great hall: it has also been fully equipped with modern catering facilities.

• The Great Hall is available for both the civil ceremony and the reception and/or evening event.
• It is not available solely for the ceremony.
• The function can take place either during the afternoon or in the afternoon and the evening.
• The ceremony can take place only between 12 noon and 6pm.
• The Great Hall may also be booked for evening functions such as parties, dinners and dances, and company events.

The Great Hall holds a maximum of 200 people for any function. For a formal seated function, a maximum of 150 is recommended. Due to the size of the Great Hall, a minimum of approximately 70 is recommended for all functions.

Coed-Y-Mwstwr is a delightful wedding venue. Our Victorian country mansion provides a warm welcome for your Civil Ceremony and reception, while the extensive gardens provide excellent photographic opportunities. Combine all this with delicious Welsh Fayre and you have a wedding day to remember.

The Fox Room can cater for intimate occasions up to 25 people while the elegant Eliot Restaurant can seat up to 65 people. For larger weddings the Hendre Suite can accommodate 170 (250 evenings) or alternatively we can arrange a Marquee in our grounds for up to 300 people.

Treat you and your guests to our Chocolate Fountain, a cascading stream of warm Belgian chocolate into which a variety of biscuits and sweets may be dipped.

Wales Millennium Centre Exhibition

Wales Millennium Centre comprises one large theatre and two smaller halls. It also includes shops, bars and restaurants. The Centre is home to the national opera, dance, theatre and literature companies of Wales, as well as the national orchestra. In total, the Centre has eight art organisations in residence.  The main theatre, the Donald Gordon Theatre, holds 1,897 people, the BBC Hoddinott Hall holds 350 people and the Weston Studio Theatre holds 250 people.
